reel logo ID

Post by Dustnstuff »

I posted this some 15 years ago with no luck.
Thought maybe some new members could help ID this
Flamingo which is stamped on the back plate.
Thanks,
Dustnstuff

sorry I can't help ID that but it's a cool stamp. Can you post a photo of the whole reel?

I seem to remember a stork reel mark attributed to German Noris, but when I googled this morning, this link turned up:
https://www.traditionalfisherman.com/vi ... hp?t=11684
Apparently Stork was a family and trade name of fishing tackle from Munich.
Might be worth pursuing.

Thanks Richard and Ron. The Stork from Germany is not the one. I've researched that and there is no match.
I will post more pictures shortly. Also researched the Crane, and no match there either.

Very close, but I don't think this reel is a Hardy. It is a British made reel most likely. Maybe a trade reel
for some retailer. Reel is 2 1/2" and my wife says I'm wrong a lot.

well no, I was thinking it was similar to the Effzett, and that's a very Birmingham-looking reel (Heaton) - of course doesn't rule out being distributed in Munich. Stork didn't make the Hardy they distributed, either.

Ron, Thanks for posting the Heaton page. The reel foot on my reel doesn't match those in the Ad.
I still think Heaton but just not the models in the Ad.

After looking some more, the reel foot looks like Farlow

Farlow bought Heaton reels. Farlow bought Jw Young reels, Sharpes reels, etc.
Farlow listed 45 reel models in their '33 catalog, claimed all were made at Croydon, but only a half-dozen were made at Croydon.
If they could buy it, they would.
Another maker you might want to search is Smith & Wall of Redditch.
Here's a Heaton foot on a marked Heaton reel.

and another

Ron,
That sure looks like it. Same style and knob. Now I just need to know who Heaton made it for.
Thanks,
