The reel on the left is, I believe, the earliest. It has no hole in the foot, a reverse S-handle, fixed click, and what I call "triangular" shaped pillars, stamped Abbey & Imbrie (c.1883).
The reel in the center has a 1/8" hole in the foot, an S-handle, fixed click, square pillars, stamped H.C. Litchfield, Boston (c.1888). It probably followed, chronologically, the first reel.
The reel on the right has a 1/8" hole in the foot, straight screw on handle, on/off click, and "rounded" pillars. It is the reel with the last, chronologically, type pillars used by Julius.
The question is when (what dates) did Julius change from the "triangular" pillar to the square pillar to the "rounded" pillar?
