I recently picked up a Shalespeare dollar reel 22636. I have not seen one before. Are they fairly common? Have any value?
Thanks,
Ed

Ed,
They were in the catalogues for a very short time, before 1920. (Without looking) and they aren't seen too often and they get no respect. I bought one off Flea -bay a year ago for under $20.00 but I considered it as a steal.

I had one of the Dollar reels a while back and sold it, I think I got around $75 for it. This would have been at least three years ago.

In case some are wondering what we are talking about, This is that $20.00 reel
I agree with Bill in that they are worth much more than I gave for this one. I have a better one somewhere but at first glance I didn't see it.
Enjoy!

There have been 2 dollar reels sold on ebay in the last year. One sold for $18.00 & the other for $21.00.
