Odd logo on old reel..HELP please

Post by Dustnstuff »

I have a wonderful old brass reel, circa 1910-20, with a FLAMINGO stamped on the front plate, (Could be a Crane) standing on one leg. Can any one help with an idea as to who made it? I have posted this on other fishing related pages, with no luck. The English don't have any ideas on this one, so I thought maybe it was a british made reel that went to one of the colonies and was marked there. ie: Canada, India, or Hong Kong.
This could be a tough one, but if I get an answer  I will share the info
Thanks

This is a brass and ebonite marked Robertson Maker Glasgow.

I know that Heaton also supplied reels to this shop.

oops, nevermind, not standing on one leg.

Thanks Ron

I have a number of Robertsons and Heatons as well as just about every reel maker from Great Britian, and none use this logo. My guess is an other country where the reel was shipped and marked there by the outfitter. Maybe South America of Africa.
Thanks for trying

cool, it is the right logo.

that reel is being sold by Tam in Perth - I seriously doubt if it has ever left the Isle.

I have plenty of Allcock reels that don't have the stag trademark. (With our without the trademark, almost all of these were made by J.W. Young, with just a few noted examples made by Dingley.)
