Hi Phil,

Oops, got caught up in "student speak." Its a word that they seem to use in every other sentence. Anyway Webster's defines it thusly:

Ginormous indeed.

Cheers,

Dr. Todd

P.S. Kudos to coining "wowser". Maybe we can submit it to the O.E.D. as a new English word?
I'll give Bill a break with his tackle/lunch box thread (hope you sell it soon :) ) and start a new one here.

So Todd, I'm thinking the dates 1948-53 in the definition indicate when the word was first used? Ginormous then, is not some new slang.

Phil, you may have competition in the claim to fame of coining our favorite reel term as I found this interesting definition for "wowser" in the same dictionary.

Brian, after I used the word in the Reel News, I heard from an Australian member of ORCA. He told me their definition of the word. I'll still lay claim to the word as meaning a really wow of a reel.

Ginormous... a charming neologism from The Who's Tommy...stated by the nefarious and lecherous Uncle Ernie...
