Trying to find info on such matters. I guess retail. Also, what L.A. Coxe 9/0 cost also then in the 20`s. The J.A Coxes from the late 30`s to 40`s. Any info would be a help.

Here you go Bud, this is right out of the 1930 Abercrombie & Fitch catalog.

Posted below are the prices for the comparable 12/0 Edward vom Hofe and Hardy Zane Grey reels from the same catalog. The 12/0 Coxe made in Los Angeles was three times more expensive than both the 12/0 Edward vom Hofe and the 6" (12/0) Hardy Zane Grey reels ... that is why you never see the 12/0 Coxe reel, at that price he must have only sold a handful of them.

12/0 - Edward Vom Hofe ........................... $250.00
6" (12/0) - Hardy Zane Grey ....................... $235.00
12/0 - J.A. Coxe Made in L.A. ............... $750.00

Notice that the smaller size J.A. Coxe reels are, for the most part, double the price of the Edward and Julius vom Hofe reels.

Well the 12-0 California Coxe reels (depending on model) your looking at $7,500 for a 12-0 made in California...reason being they were twice as expensive next to any other reel of their time. Now the quick apart California 12-0 considerably cheaper at about $4,000....there you’ve the Bronson Michigan 12-0 that’s no more than $1,000. The 9-0 California reels today are relatively cheap at average $500-750. If you’ve the swordfish model (reel with outer bronze bearings and are stamped with a swordfish) you’re looking at about $2,000 on up. I know some people will say higher but then again they maybe the sellers of an example! Keep in mind condition plays a big role. Example the 12-0 Michigan Coxe wide spool new in box perhaps $1,500....depending on who’s hot to have it but they’re out there!

How about the L.A. COXE reel cost when made in 9/0 . The 12/0 was $750.00 So was the nine a little less or a lot less than the 12/0?
