Diamond Automatic Fly Reel barn find

Post by RustyStuff »

Greetings! Has anyone got any suggestions for cleaning up the reel in my images? Literally a barn find, I was contemplating Mother's Mag Wheel Polish and a toothbrush maybe... Thanks in advance!

RustyStuff, photos not visible yet.

At the top of this thread click on Reel Talk - General, then look at the first item under Announcements. Its a guide for posting photos on the page.

Looks like a first-model Meisselbach. I would remove the line, see what your toothbrush can do with warm soapy water. Then try mineral spirits for whatever remains.

Not a lot of people collect the automatics, but that is a pretty hard one to find I believe. Well worth cleaning up as Steve described.
