Hi !
Its been many years since I posted here but rest assured, I am still very interested in the great hobby.
I found a nice old fly reel yesterday. Its made of brass and factory painted, I think, black.
The only stamp is on the bottom of the foot and it says Made in USA. The clicker works but it is a soft click so it probly needs to be opened and cleaned. The spool spins very freely ! The wood handle, and string are original too ! There is no damage other than major paint loss.
Can anyone tell me who made it, about when it was made and maybe even a value ?
When it was made interests me the most so I can put it in the correct era of my collection.
Thanks for any help provided.

Re: Fly Reel ID Please
good morning! This is a generic skeleton-style fly reel. It was a very common style made by many companies in greater or lesser quality. On the higher quality side I would place Pflueger, Winchester and Meisselbach. This one would fall on the "lesser" side of that equation, I think. Hard to pin a maker on this one. Could have been Ocean City but again, almost impossible to tell since Made in USA was stamped on the foot of many of these reels. Value? Sentimental or for display, perhaps, but not a lot of value, IMHO.
