Well for $12, I just bought this reel to get a better look. Turns out it was made by Shakespeare. It is very similar to the Shakespeare Acme 1907, listed in Shakespeare's 1933 catalog. I think the "Wards 33" name may also imply it was manufactured in 1933, as the "Wards 34" appears in the Montgomery Wards 1934 catalog.


Still have not heard if anyone is carrying on the editing of the Wards reels list Robert Ellis and Mark Williams were working on?
