Pflueger Foot Markings

What years did the 'P' appear on the Pflueger Supreme (or other Pflueger reels) foot?

Open for debate about when it appears. May span late 40s to early 50s. I no longer have the reels to reference. Never pinned it down myself for certain. What about it other Pflueger guys?

Thanks, Bob. I could not find anything definitive in the ORCA library. The 'P' appears to have been used across a number of reel models over a wide period. I was trying to date a narrow spool Supreme I own. And whether it is a true 1574 or might have been cobbled with parts from a later 1577 (introduced in 1964). All 1577's I've looked at have a 'B' on the foot, as do the 1576's I've looked at. My "1574' has a 'P' on the foot, possibly pre-dating the 1577.

There is some discussion of this in the bowels of the Reel Talk archives, but i don’t recall any firm conclusions being reached. One would think such an obvious marking would come with a story!

Yeah… I thought P stood for Pflueger. Then came the B. Presumably for Bflueger.

Supreme's didn't get the 'B' until early 60's. But the 'B' dates way back in some models. I have a 30’s Akron with a straight foot with an ‘B’ on it. And then there's the 'P'. What does it mean? It could be on a foot, or on a LW pawl block.
