Martin Spinning Reel ID

Post by Terry Battisti »

Hey Folks,

I have a buddy of mine who asked me if I knew about this old martin spinning reel. I looked in the library and it wasn't in any of the caalogs posted there. I was hoping that one of you would know it. The first image is the reel with the sideplate taken off. The second image is of that sideplate with the Martin name and their location.

Do any of you out these know what this reel is? It's pretty cool with the split post. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Terry

Martin Precision No. 103 if memory serves me correctly. Came in a few different colors, I have seen green, red, and clear side plates.
Wanted: Horton, Bristol & Meek reels, reel boxes, and catalogs!!!!

Funny I was going through some old Field & Stream magazines the other night and happened across these two ads for the reel in question. The first ad is from the March 1954 issue and the second, the April 1954 issue. They don’t have a name for the reel or a model number, just the Martin Spinning reel. Thought I’d share the ads with you all.
