Just a head's up, in case you happen to have an older Akron:
Prior to 1941 the Akron came with straight bevel cut gears. In 1941, spiral gears were introduced in the Akron. Check, just in case.

Chad, I just put your pinion gear and spool in the mail just a while ago. For your information, what I sent you are spiral gears. Not sure I can help you with straight gears for that reel.

Spiral is best bet. Awful lot of Akron’s made post war.
