Abu garcia reel

I would love to get more info on a abu garcia reel No. 5000,,foot no.125542,it has 4 screws on the left side, which from what i understand is pre 1968,could be wrong,lol,is it worth anything or should I just fish with it ?can't find any other numbers on it,All help would be very much appreciated, Thank you

These reels sell between 50 and 75 dollars (if they are nice, i.e. very little or no boat rash). There was a very nice 5000 with case and paperwork that sold for 50 last night.

When they were first introduced the 5000 cost the equivalent of $450 in today's dollars. Today, a new ABU modern round-reel equivalent is about $80 and a Kastking knock-off of the original ABU 5000 is about $50.
