Ah, my favorites! Terry, your earlier version, with the doorknob handle came mostly in felt lined fiber boxes while the later models came in metal tins. There's probably some mismatching during the handle and box style changeover around 1937ish. Hope this helps. There's also a little cardboard tool kit that came with an oiler, bottle of of oil and probably the hardest thing to get, a little two pronged wrench. Actually the wrench was just a bent piece of metal (labeled Pflueger) that was used to remove the end cap.
There was also the same type of instruction 3 fold paper as the Templar, a hang tag and, another tough item to for the complete package, a registration card.
Brian, what does the wrench look like? I've got a couple of different ones in my tool kit that should go in someone's AtlaPac box if they belong there.
Brian, you made my day with your pictures and information. The information gives me information to begin my search for the case, paperwork and wrench. Do you have pictures of the wrench? I may have one and not know it.
I'll get a photo of the wrench and tool kit up tonite. I had some nice clear ones that unfortunately got blown out into cyberspace with my last hard drive crash But I will say that you will be highly unimpressed as the wrench IS really just a bent piece of metal!
Tool Kit: The box is 4 1/8" x 3 1/2" x 7/8" high and although it is the green zebra striped pattern, I believe this one came with the tins and there must have been a maroon version that came with the fiber boxes. (I'm assuming this because the earlier Templars in maroon boxes have maroon colored tool kits.)
Wrench: 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 5/8" wide, two ends with prongs (one side tapered), looks like galvanized metal, labeled "PFLUEGER" over "MADE IN U.S.A." Sorry for the bad photo and the upsidedown label!
I have several Atlapacs but this is the only wrench I've found in 8 years. Sorry for the bad news, Terry, but hope this helps. It's probably just one of those things where no one knows what the piece 'o metal is for.
Brian, thanks for the pictures of the oil kit and screwdriver. You were right -on about the screwdriver. It's very odd and unusual. There must be a good reason for it's design, Ijust haven't thought what that reason could be.
Terry, I've been told that the wrench is supposedly used to remove the end caps. I've never had a reason to remove them or even tried to see if the prongs fit but can't see any other use for it
