Ocean City Bay City tag

Post by Stunt Fisher »

I've had this reel for quite some time and have always wondered about the Bay City tag. It's not right side up. I don't think that makes this reel special, but am wondering if it came from the factory that way or if someone may have done that when they had it taken apart. The tag doesn't have marks that might indicate it's been pried out. This is the only Ocean City reel that I've seen with a tag that's not "upright".

Any thoughts on what may have happened?

Alcohol may have been involved .
Either in the Assembler or on the Reel after assembly causing the glue to loosen then someone smudged it around .

Could it possibly be one of those heisted parts lunch box assembled at home examples that employees were arrested for?
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)

Maybe like Johnny Cash's Cadillac? He got it once piece at a time.
Thanks for your input. I still don't know exactly what to think, but I like the one piece at a time idea.
