Having some trouble disassembling and reassembling the 3 pc spool on the old Hurds. Have done 2 and same fight to get the center spool out and just as tough to get it back in. Last one I had to pry out with a heavy dowel rod. Just not enough side to side play to free the center spool. On reassembly, I have the drive gear stem installed and the bearing flange assy and 3 screws tight to it. Nothing in the way of getting the center spool back in but just no side to side play to slide it in. I feel there must be a trick of some type to get the spool out and then back in. I fear I'm going to damage one of these and I have 14 more to go. Anyone have a method out there to take care of this problem ? Appreciate any help.
Thanks ,
Ozzy
Hurd Supercaster spool reassembly
Re: Hurd Supercaster spool reassembly
I think experience getting these out helps. I am now on number 6 and no more trouble getting the spools out or in.
Just takes practice I guess.

Re: Hurd Supercaster spool reassembly
If you're unfamiliar with the reel, take photos as you go during disasseblly. It will help you get it back together later.
