"Bell" logo

Does anyone recognize this logo? It's stamped on an inexpensive fly reel that looks to be from the '30s to '50s.

Steve - the picture is not very clear. What does it say below the bell?

I posted the picture for someone else, who says it says "FRANCE" under the bell.

I have a few (French) books on French reels (spinning/casting/fly), none of the reels mentioned show a Bell marking
Especially "Les moulinets Français" is considered to be very complete, but even this one has a few pages of so far unknown reels.
Yours could be one of the unknow... :?:
Please post a picture of front, back and side of the reel.
Could tell a little more
If you like I can send the pictures  to a few French collector's I know (most of them don't speak English).
Best regards,
Jean-Paul
from Belgium, is next to France b.t.w. :)

(when mailing the pics, please downsize them, no Mb pics...)

Thank you, Jean-Paul. Here are the pictures, shrunken a bit to satisfy the discriminating ORCA server. We'll be grateful cool-thumb for whatever you can tell us about the reel.

BTW, we appreciate the news about Belgium, but we don't know where France is.

Hi,

Have been doing some more research.
The only French "Bell" logo I've found is the one from the french distributor M.S.Policar. The reels made for them has a bell-logo, but with the letters M.P. in it. They also sold spinning reels made by Italian companies like Cargem and Nettuno. I have only found 1 Policar (fly)reel, but it doesn't look like yours in any way (see picture)

Your reel could have been made by "Pratic" and sold by some french or USA distributor.

I'll try to insert the Policar logo in the message.

Forgot to mention the Policar "Bell"-logo was sometimes replaced with the word "BELL" as such. Best known are the SAP spinning reels made for Policar under the Bell-name.
Will post here if I can find some more about your Bell reel.

Hi Steve,
Jean-Paul is correct on the Sap spinning reels.
I have a pic. of a spinning reel that is marked on the medallion
M P BELL made in France but there is no bell logo.
it is the same reel as the Ceka model 6 on page 328 in my 3rd edition.

Jean-Paul,
Thank you for sharing your findings with us. I've tried to contact the owner of the bell-logo reel to learn if his blurred logo is the same as the bell in your diagram, but he hasn't responded. It looks to me as if the bell is very similar, but the lettering is different.
