Baby Blue Airex

Post by Dale Noll »

Hi All,
Promised someone in a Post a couple weeks ago to post a photo of the Baby Blue Airex. This reel is marked Bache Brown Spinster Mark VI AIREX, Division of Lionel Corporation, Made in USA, Pat Pend. Well, here we go:

Image Image Image

As you all see, not all photos same size, but still visible! Don't know how to crop right yet.

Now, who will post a photo of the PINK Airex Spinster to match the Baby Blue!

I have a Pink Spinster but posting picts. is more than I can handle. I have a question on the blue one you posted. Does that black finish wipe off of the blue finish? Bob----->The Airex Guy

Bob: Only the Drag nob and Crank nob are actually black. The other "black" is just a photo lighting problem. There is no paint where you see "black". Actual color is aluminum metalic gray in sunlight.

Since it took me 3 weeks to get photo up, I'll be patient for the PINKIE.

Dale, Let me understand you right. The black appearance on the body of the reel and the spool housing (the part around the spool) is not black paint? I have seen a few blues in photographs, but never with that appearance. Bob

Bob: Right on. No black paint. Just Aqua Blue and Metallic Aluminum where the Blue has worn off.

Dale, Thanks for the update on the color issue. I can tell you that the crank handle is correct for a Mark IV. This is something that is changed at times because most all the handles from Airex Reels will fit on it. There is a Bronzite Mark VI on ebay now that has the incorrect handle. The three colors for the Mark VI are Bronzite, Aqua and Pink. The Aqua and Pink colors are the exact match to the colors used by Lionel on their Boys and Girls train sets from the 50's. They did the Aqua and Pink in their Apache model reel also. One last thing, the tripping lever for the bail for the Mark VI is different from the Model 5 Spinster and will not work correctly even though it can be installed. If you would ever decide to part with the reel I would appreciate it if you would give me the opportunity to be the buyer. Thanks Bob Halver----->The Airex Guy

Dale, Was I shocked today at the Post Office or what! Its being displayed as of this moment. Thank you so much for your generousity and I hope I can do the same for you down the road. Now, what is it you collect? Seeing I only collect Airex I don't keep an eye on the other brands, but I would like to do that in your case. Just give me a hint.
Again, Thanks so much, Bob------>The Airex Guy
