letters after pflueger model numbers

I'm relativly new to collecting and my favorites by far are the pflueger casting reels that come in the green and white boxes but i've been wondering for a while what is the difference between for example a akron 1893 and an 1893L or a summit 1993 , 1993L or 1983M?

Howdy and welcome to the world of reel collecting!

As for your question, I think the L stands for "Light" and those reels come with an aluminum spool. Not sure what M is for - "Metal"?

You will find Pflueger reels galore on ebay, but I'm sure you'll get a some here to scare up a few for you.

:D 8) :wink: :!: :idea: cool-thumb :type: jump yay-banana USA Ok so I had to go to the Pfluger repair manual, (pfluger summit 1993L is a SUMMIT, 1993A is left hand SUMMIT wonder which employee done that? and the New Summit is 1993 M , The Nobby 1963C is a satin Chromium finish, Deluxe Nobby is the 1960no letter. The Skilkast has only the # 1953, the Akron is a 1893 standard spool and the 1893L is Lightweight Aluminum spool, trump is just a # 1943, the Trusty is just a # 1923, Bond is #s only 2000 bond with casting rod Crossplate , 2002 is a bond with saltwater crossplate, #506 are the BOND ROD CLAMPS for either of the above reels. Pfluger Rocket #1355 Standard spool double crank, #1365F Std. Spool , Torpedo Crank and Casting Croosplate, the 1375 is for MONOFILAMENT LINE. Pfluger seaking #2188 sea king reel #2188E sea king Reel with extra SPOOL ( watch when you buy this one If it donthave the extra spool take a lot off the asking price)Capitol, 1985 line cap, 270 yrds, 1&7/8 pillers 2&3/4 in plates , 1988 350 yd line 2&1/8 pillers 3&1/4 plates, 1989 Line500 yrds, 2&1/8 pillers 3&1/2 in plates Pfluger OHIO 1975 270 yrd. 1&7/8pillers 2&3/4 plates , 1978 line cap 350 yds, 2&1/8 pillers 3&1/4 in plates trust this helps a wee bit!
