Question about a pflueger

Post by Robin Sayler »

I'm wondering about the PFLUEGER ALPINE #2675 F. Can anyone tell me about this reel. Why is the level wind on the bottom?

I don't know how carefully Bob Miller monitors this site, but he wrote a Pflueger Pfacts article about the Alpine. That is an under the rod reel, used for trolling.

Dear younguy...if you go to the top of the board and click on orca home, then go to the orca store at the top of that page, I think you'll find your pfl Pfacts book on sale!

Those odd backwards Pflueger Alpines really threw me the 1st I saw. I was told that they were to be used upside down under the rod. Also, they were popular for salmon fishing with weighted line or wire from what I gather.

I've got a big Alpine 2659 that is missing it's level wind components, if anybody has a donor let me know. Also have a regular Alpine in excellent condition, in box w/manual. Don't see many Pfluegers anymore, glad I latched on to the ones I have when I did. I think they were talking about Pflueger when they said they don't make them like this any more.

The Pflueger Pfacts book has been sold out since May. When there is enough demand there may be another printing sometime in the future.
