Hi

I am a new member and I have been surfing the site. I have also been trying to figure out the picture up load. When I click on upload picture the next window has the rules and the browse box and the upload tab. When I select the picture and click up load I get as the next screen says that my file couldn't be loaded. What am I doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Bill...maybe your pic is too big? check the size of what you're uploading and see if it's inside the limits for space.

Also, see sticky above re adding photos

Bill, now's the easy part.

copy the url for the photo and paste it in the thread text: eg.,
http://orcaonline.org/images/pixel.gif?pape.jpg

then highlight it in the text, and click on the Img button above the Font size:

Will,

Sorry you're having trouble but it may be that the photo name needs to be shortened. I'm not 100% sure but seems like the board software has problems with long names for photos. Maybe try to upload one more time with a simpler name? Looks like you're almost there so don't give up just yet!

I'll take a shot at it too:

Scratch that, long names seem to work ok as is.

Will, It seems that the long names are ok. However, the problem is when you copy the link in the "upload confirmed" screen that appears after you send the photo to the repository. DO NOT USE THAT LINK - Instead, go to the picture repository, find your photo, open it up with your browser, copy the address in the "address" line and paste that into your message. Seems like spaces and other symbols get converted and the message board only recognizes these converted symbols.

Hi Brian

Thank you for being patient with me. Sometimes I can be pretty thick. Here goes another try.

I have used up a lot of space in the repository. Can I just delete them or do the moderators do this. Thank you again for all the help.

Glad to help. I think the website manager needs to do that. If I recall, the intent was that pictures in the repository would be temporary and it would be subject to a cleaning out every-now-and-then so I wouldn't worry about the space.

Lost track of if you had a question about the reel or not but it looks like a Hendryx to me?

Bill,

Welcome to the club... don't feel bad about the picture thing. Brian had to hold my hand (so to speak, no ACTUAL contact) a whold bunch before I got one up all alone without help from all kinds of folks. I still have trouble with the size of the image... Your reel photos look just fine from here.

SO tell us what you collect... show us more photos. We are always glad to have a new member in the family... Uh, club.

Dear All

I am going to be quite involved in reel talk so I guess it is time to introduce myself. My name is Bill Turnbull and I live in the Fraser Valley in British Columbia Canada along the Chilliwack River which is my home river. I am an avid fisherman and fly fishng is my first love although I have no problem taking out a level wind, or center pin or a spinning reel. I mostly fish Salmon and Steelhead however a couple of times a year I go into the mountain streams and fly fish trout and dollies. Within an hours drive there are eight rivers I can fish and all have their unique qualities.

As for reels I don't know if I am a collector or an accumulator. My problem is that I like them all. I have a wide assortement of reels ranging from old English and Scottish Fly reels and Center Pins to level winds and bait casting reels to spinning reels. There is also some mooching reels in the pile. I do wheel and deal in reels but it is always hard to sell a reel as I am attatched to all of them. However someone once said that you must make a sacrifice to improve so the cycle goes on
It is hard to send any pictures at the moment as my display is the heap and pile method mentioned in another thread. However I am going to be quite active in reel talk so there will be lots of pictures in the future.

When I joined the ORCA I felt I was someone who knew something about reels. However only after a couple of days I find that I am meek and humbled by the quality of collectors in this association. I also find tt very comforting to see the kind and giving attitude of the people in the association. It is said that wisdom is just the simple reallization of what one doen't know. As for myself I am well below wisdom as at this point I do not know what I don't know. I am looking forward to being and active member of this club especially in reel talk and I am more than happy to share any and all information I may have on any topic. Looking forward to talking to you all.

Sincerely
Bill Turnbull
