I have two 4 Brothers Rubber City bait casting reels. They are marked 60 and 80 yards. Bob Miller has informed me that these were never listed in catalogs so I was wondering if anyone may know if there were others...
Thanks ...Jerry
I have a Capitol, Regal, Elinor, and Sentrie

Hey Ron...I collect Pflueger and 4 Bros...I have the Capitol 60, Elinor 60, Atlas 40 thru 100, the Seminole 40-80 and quite a few more...I am wondering if the Rubber City casting reels were made in any other sizes..That is what makes this so much fun, trying to figure things out..Jerry
you really need to trade notes with mortepa. His collection is excellent. I'm starting to limit my bait reels to 4 bros, and I'm looking for Medina and Rubber City.
the Regal, BTW is an exceptional design, and this has become my choice for fishing (but I need to photograph it). The way this reel is made, the face-plate oil cap lets you oil the spindle bushing directly.
Anyway, here's the rod:

not my photo, but I have this little 60-yd. Peerless, a Pflueger merchant reel.
This one has the matte finish. The same Portage reel was the Cascade, available in bright or matte finish. Nice little reels.
I'll have to speak to Bob about this, but the Rubber City was pictured in the 1925 Thos. E. Wilson catalog. I had not realized it wasn't pictured in any Pflueger catalogs...
By the way, anyone have an extra sideplate screw for a 4 Brother Elinor?
I hope someone can give me a little advice on this reel I have. I currently work at an auction house where we have acquired a very very large collection of vintage reels. I am having trouble researching some of them for value. I am trying to find a value on this 4 Brothers 4 60 yard Capitol reel. The owner originally thought it was unmarked but I found the faded stamp on the side, this thread seems to have some 4 Bros reels enthusiasts in it so I'm hoping you guys can help me out. This reel will be going up for auction.
