Ever seen this color Jewel

Post by Reelman »

I have never seen this color jewel on a reel before. I lest that I can remember. It does not show up in the pictures. It is a bright blue green. I have not cleaned the whole reel up yet as you can see. But I did clean the jewel on one side. And it is not a clear or opaque glass or stone with grease behind it coloring it.

The reel is a South Bend 1131-A

Merv, I have an 1131A with the turquoise jewels also. I believe they were special ordered but were never advertised. Harvey tells me that SP would do anything special you wanted for a price. I'm surprised other jewels haven't surfaced. Jim

Merv,
I have seen green/blue ones like yours, red candy striped ones, clear, onyx, and a few others including reds of many shades. One year at Daytona a guy had a saltwater reel with black ones in it. I even took one off and held it up to the light to make sure.
Those would be a collection within them self’s. I just would be hesitant to ask others if they wanted to see my 'Jewels".

Merv,

I would bet a nickle of Madden's money that your reel has a serial number somewhere between 37000 and 41000.

Cheers,
