Vintage Phlueger Fishing Kit

Post by 69namm79 »

Hi, I have a never used Pflueger Fishing Kit that features a rod, 2 reels, and an assortment of lures, sinkers, hooks, stringer, scaler, etc. in a "My Buddy Tackle Box. The bait casting reel is a Pflueger model 1933. The other reel is a Bronson Spin Casting Reel. Both new in the box. Does anyone have any history on this item? and does the model# have anything to do with it's vintage? I am new to this hobby and would appreciate some opinions. Thanks - Duane

A photo would help... I have seen a Pflueger kit that came in a large flat box about the size board games come in. My guess was that the kit I saw was made in the late 60s... look for copyright info on your box for more clues. Also the printed graphics...

For Pflueger the model numbers do not match the year of make... too easy I guess.

Posting a photo would go a long way towards a better ID here... I would be interested in seeing how that Bronson fits into the kit... it may not be part of the kit but something an owner added.

Sounds like a nifty start of a collection though... Pfluegers, or maybe kits and kids tackle... you could do all kinds of takes on it... MIB (mint in box) is always a big plus.

Duane...This photo is from the 1964 Pflueger catalog. The 1933 is a Trusty. The Trusty Kit is the next to the bottom. Hope this helps some...

Welcome to the wonderful world of reels...
