Can anyone tell me which handle i'm looking for?

Post by Robin Sayler »

I just picked up an older pflueger nobby 1963. It has the red jewels and six patent numbers on the side. The only thing is it came with a summit hadle on it. I've got a bunch of pflueger handles but i'm not sure if i have the right one or which i'm looking for as far as color, B or P etc...thanks for anyhelp you can give me

i'd like to say I have the expertise to show you exactly which one, but i bet it would be age-related...probably changed throughout production to some degree. Best bet is to go to Ebay completed auctions plus new listings and just see what the consensus is for handle type. I'll certainly look at mine when i get home and send a pic.

Crank

Post by Jerry J in OK »

Robin...The first catalog I have that shows the Nobby is the 1935/36 and it just says Fancy Balanced Crank and doesn't mention what the handles are made of. The pic is of an Akron 1893 with 6 patent numbers from the same catalog and it has green knobs and the Trump from the same catalog had brown mottled pyralin ivory handles...Like John said the best bet to get the right one would be to check ebay...If I had a Nobby that old I would send you a pic of it...The CD is in the mail, by the way...Jerry

1963 with 6 ptd. dates?

Post by SWIM JIG »

:o :? :!: :?:  cool-thumb jump USA Young GUY, I am looking at a 1963 Knoby front cover and worm gear cover ie rolled engraving, and is aluminumn, Handle is a white -pearl color with a (P) stamped on it no engraving on the worm gear cover its blank! The handle is 2&1/4 in center pin to centerpin, no pat #s on it anywhere just marked pfluger TRADE NOBBY mark no 1963 made in USA ) next is a deluxe red free spool nobby 1965 red in color and the fre spool handle is also a light grey white 2&1/2 center pin to center pin no pat markes, next is a red delixe 1960 nobby handles are a pearl white in color and measure 1&7/8in center pin to center pin, no ptd marks just the made in USA . all 3 of these reels have spacers on the spool the 1960 has a cork spacer the others have plastic. the front cover of the reels are al metal rear of the 1963 is like a white brass, the 1960 is all aluminumn the 1963 has a red coating on the back plate whis is a brass? meal? The reg. pfluger reels like the akron etc will interchange back plates, that may be why yours has all the pt dates! I will in the next few days look at a few more boxes on Nobbys I have. Hope this has been of some help or Confusion? your Ohio conecton on lake erie Col. Nilton lorens aka SWIM JIG

Nobby

Post by Jerry J in OK »

The older Nobbys were made of nickalum - satin finish (like the Supreme) with polished diamolite trim so the tail plates from the Akrons (of the same time frame) would not work since they are polished diamolite (heavy chrome) and shiny. Robin, does the line guide assembly look like the one in the pic?...Jerry
