See the March issue of The Reel News for a brief history of the Ugly Reel Throwing Contest.

Do you really mean AT YOU?
I threw one with you! In fact, it became part of the Trophy for first place.

What's the record?

I'm 6' 4". played football in college, and threw the discus. I figure I can toss a Penn 6/0 a goodly distance. What's the record?

You were supposed to be blocking or tackling the opposition, not throwing a discus at them. The record depends on which weight class you're in.

Stu, you may not have heard, but we quit throwing the reels at you in Texas. Instead we threw them into a trash can. If you missed you were out and all who didn't miss moved on to a longer throw until there was only one winner. Big Lou McEachern was the winner.

We found the distance part of the contest wasn't conducive to the age in infirmity of most of our members.
