Any Marshall Field's Reels Out There?

Post by Teal »

Hi,

Just finished up Congress and am moving on to Marshall Field's. Any one out there have any marked reels with "Marshall Field & Co." or "MF&Co."?

I have two "Conway Specials". Any others out there? Any catalogs (other than the NFLCC one)? Misc. information?

Thanks to everyone who responds to my frequent research requests, you have allowed me to finish a number of trade reel columns for coming issues of The Reel News.

Cheers,

Dr. Todd

Todd,
I believe there were some Talbot reels marked for Marshall Field & CO. I believe there was one that sold on eBay about 2 months ago. Not positive, but believe I'm correct in saying this.

When I searched my Old Fishing Stuff site I noted 6 hits for Marshall Field. One of them was last month's eBay Report. I remember reporting on a Talbot a month or two ago, as Warren notes. I believe I have at least one catalog.

Todd,
What about the one in the ORCA Library?
No date but my guess is it is before 1923 or so. has the Shakespeare Model "B" and the SB 1131 in it so that is my guess on the date.
Let me know.

Here are a couple pages. I can make better copies if so desired.

Hi All

Hurray for ORCA! How cool is this. I have written the history of MF's "Store for Men" which sold fishing tackle, but only have seen a few reels (own one) and one catalog. This is very cool. Thanks one and all! Will be in touch with everyone soon.

Cheers,

The brass tag says Marshall Field and the initials are A.M.C. It was found in the attic of an old Chicago area store and has many quality rods and reels with several marked Marshall Field. Just catching up for a cruise and following up on old tackle leads now.

Here's one, but all I have left is this pic - I sold it a couple of years ago.
