This isn't only for Mitchell fans only but any knowledgeable Outdoor Life reader. I came a Garcia Mitchell 300 reel with the name " E. ZIMMERMANN" professionally etched on the side above the handle. The seller told me that Zimmermann was a writer for Outdoor Life Magazine. He bought this reel and 1 other that were "owned" by two writers. The other reel was owned by Harry Kennerson. It didn't have his name on it but a small bronze medalion about the size of a dime. Had inscribed outdoor life, appreciation or something like that on it. Was attached to the rotor opposite the bail in the closed position. It was a little more used than Zimmermann. The seller is very reputable so I don't think he would purposely miss lead me. I have boughten off him in the past and am happy with what I have. He also said he ran into a guy that had a mess of Mitchells and wanted to buy them all but the "mitchell" guy wasn't ready to sell at that time. He may have bought these from him since then. This guy had all sorts of reels from spin to bait casters. Not a fly-by-night person. Any help on this would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Thank you.
Kim
Harry Kennerson is an outdoor writer, mainly on salt water fishing subjects. I did a Google search for E. Zimmermann, but found nothing relating to Outdoor Life.
Remember that fame is very fleeting, and names engraved on reels seem to have very little influence on the value. Unless it's John Wayne or Zane Grey.
True, Geezer, but it is the responsibility of people like yourself, Teal, et al., to unfleet the fame of the John F. Richardses and Harley Stobers of the sporting world.
"Fleets. Several ships on the same square may be joined to form a fleet. They move as a single unit, at the speed of the slowest ship in the fleet. When a fleet attacks, each unit in the fleet attacks separately and individually. There is no bonus given on defense to ships in a fleet. (A bug in old versions caused the attacked ship to sometimes be destroyed; this has been fixed in version 1.05.) When a stack of ship defends, the "best" ship class defends; if there are multiple ships of the "best" type, then the one with the most remaining hitpoints defends. Because a fleet of ships uses up a movement point when attacking, it is sometimes best to--- unfleet---- when attacking, and have each ship attack individually. "
..sooo...does this mean that Geez can take care of this issue with simple photon torpedoes or will he need the Death Star?[/i]
Hello John Just out of curiosity, what exactly do you put into your cup of Starbucks in the morning? Curious minds would like to know. Obviously wood working isn't your only area of expertise. Jim
LOL...that's what happens when you snort cocobolo with a Padauk chaser ...sorry...never heard the term "unfleet" used and when you google it, you enter a world of computer geeks playing space games...i just figured that was another side of Steve
Thanks for all the input guys. Hard to believe someone would spend so much to engrave the reel. The name is in quotations as a sign of rememberance. I'll try and post a picture of it...
