:D :) 8) :!: :?:  cool-thumb :type: jump jump usa That is a spinning reel, it is designed to sit on top of the rod, they came in several sizes, also some were called as ASHWAY reels and their Address was Ashway inc, Westerly R.Island usa. the thumb leaver you see must be pushed down that keeps the reel from going backwards! That item you see with the named stamped in is a raiser, that alows for use on rods with very large eyes! The line drag is like all spinning reels it is adjusted on the front of the spool! The reel sets on top of the rod, once its casted out you hold your thumb on that leaver so the reel doesnot go back wards, original cost on the std size was $22.50 a rather expensive reel in its day! As for the name? I can only thinkit was to identify the owner or that this may be the person that designed the riser! I have several of these fromthe smallest to the ocean size, several have the riser part on them however NO NAME is stamped in them! I also have new parts , from bodies to handles for them! As for fishing them? Well its a experiance as the reel causes the rod to be (TOP HEAVY) The original Compant was the OHIO TOOL COMPANY Cleveland OHIO)trust this helps a bit. AS far as I know OHIO TOOL COMPNY is still in business and makes some nice wrenches, they also specilized in automatic Transmision tools! I still have some in My tool chest!
