Some EVH information.

Post by Harvey »

While at the ORCA show, I picked up a copy of "The American Flyfisherman" for reading while on the trip home. I didn't get that far but last night I was reading the article by Hoagy Carmichael on 'Red Camp" on the Cascapedia. In his foot notes, I found some information that may be of some interest.
As follows: (quote) Charles Phair, Atlantic Salmon Fishing (New York; Derrydale press, 1937), p.43. Colonel Thompson's suggestion"s to Edward vom Hofe were the inspirations for the multiplying salmon reel that was made in the early twenties by vom Hofe, and which was listed as the "Col. Thompson, hand made, multiplying dry-fly salmon reel" in his yearly fishing tackle catalogues. (end quote)
Col. Lewis Thompson, for whom I know nothing about, fished the river using local flies and reported in the "London Field" as doing such with great success.
If EVH research is your thang, I just thought I would pass this tid-bit along.
