Canadian Laurentian fly reel

Post by snoekjaeger »

Hi,
Just bought this nice looking (to me anyway...) fly-reel of Ebay, received it today. However, I don't have a clue on age or history.. Someone out there that can tell me a little more about it ?
Markings on the box :
Laurentian Fly Casting Reel
Made in Canada by Lawson Machine Works
Montreal, Can,
Printed in Canada
Markings on the reel :
Laurentian Nr. 2
Dry Fly Reel
Made by etc...
Image
Thanks for any info.

J.P.

Go to the Canadian Antique Fishing Tackle Assoc. website (www.cafta.ca/) and use the link to the newsletters, Vol. 2, Issue 3 has a short write-up on the Lawson Machine Works. Lawson made aluminum reels, both fly and baitcasters after WW II.

You have a nice example, the box is somewhat hard to kind, especially in clean condition. Alan
