A guy came by last night wanting some info on this reel and I told him I would see what I could find out as I had no idea...It isn't in Lawson's or any other books I have. Any help on age and value would be appreciated. He wants to give it to his father-in-law and just wanted the info to pass along.
jump usa Jerry, if my memory is corect, to make this reel ready to cast , you turn the crank backwards , that drops the pin and then can be casted, I will check my reel in a day or so, I have several of them. Acording to ben wrights book, page 296 he dosent list a 31R however does list the Fre Line 10-B and 10 -BC about the same type of reel around the 1952 era. Is there any paperwork with the reel? trust this helps a bit! Your Ohio Conection on Lake ERIE , Col. Milton Lorens aka SWIM JIG
You might be a little low for a Fre-Line Ex in box w/paper - they seem to bring 35-50 on the other place for the Red anodized model without paper or box but complete with boat rash! I think it's a later model - the first ones didn't have model numbers on the reel, and then came the model 10 and 10B. I don't have my Lawson with me, but I think he's got it listed under "Freline".
