Kencor 900 overhead reel

Post by Graham »

I recently bought an oldish Kencor 900 overhead reel. I have been unable to find any information on this reel or company on the net. Does anybody have any info on the reel and company?

Regards

Hi,

Kencor Sports Inc. is still in business in Gardena, California. I believe they started in the late 1960s as an importer of Japanese-made fishing tackle, including reels and rods. I believe now they are noted more for high end rods.

Does your reel say Made in Japan on it? If it doesn't it might have had a sticker that said that that fell off the reel seat.

Cheers,

Dr. Todd

Thanks for that. No it has no Origin stickers or marks on it.

I will contact them and see what they say

I have a Kencore Drum reel. It's levelwind, and about the size of a 2/0. :D
