Information Request on Bronson Buccaneer

Post by PT »

I'm looking for any information on a reel I just picked up, Bronson Buccaneer. This attractive reel has a silver ship imbeded on the side.
Under the reel is the name and company with Pat. pending.
Thanks
Paul

I show three spool sizes for the buccaneer 150 yard, 250 yard and 300 yard. Corresponding model #'s 700A, 700B and 700BW. I have paper for production 1933-1941 may have been made earlier and later I don't know :?:

Do you know why some had a masted sailing ship inlaid on the side of the reel while others did not? Was this true with their other models?
Thanks again; Paul

sailing ship

Paul:

That has bugged me for years. That same ship shows up on a couple other Bronson Models. I think I have three different models with that ship and have the same three models with no ship.

I have no explanation as to why. Sorry:(

Bronson Ship Trademark

Post by Reel Geezer »

The ship as used on the reel in question was trademarked by Bronson on May 4, 1933. Bronson claimed use since August of 1932. The use was intended for "Fishing Reels". (Thanks to Craig Barber for the research into trademarks)

Thanks for the info. I did not know that! This board is Great. By the way I'd still like to get that screw for my miesselback catucci 372 fly reel.
