A Hardy Question...what's wrong with this picture??

Post by john elder »

This is a friend's Hardy Silex #2 and there's a button missing...I don't know squat about these reels...what's missing here? He indicates that it still works great. Second question...how difficult would it be to scare up the needed part for the repair?

It's missing the tensioner for the casting brake.
the hole is where the indicator for the tensioner load goes through the frame backplate

thanks for the help, Ron...and also for the orvis rod comments...still haven't run that to ground, but will get there! I'm juuuust a little gunshy when it comes to fly stuff :D

I assume rounding up that replacement tensioner is going to be as tough as I think? If someone has one or a source for one, would love to hear!
