mitchell reels

i am looking to collect vintage 1950's mitchells with the yellow garcia sticker i have all but the 302 and 306 i have old garcia add with all of the 300 series reels with the sticker and it shows 306 without sticker and thje mitchell engraving on the bottom of reel when held in its fishing position my question is if the ad is right because all the reels i have come across in that vintage seem to have mitchell engraving on top of side plate opposite of ad.

Hi Jonny - I've got an unusual Mitchell item (a yellow sticker 300) on eBay at the moment that you might be interested in as it's related to the group you're interested in. It's an interesting piece but I'm not 100% sure as to what exactly Mitchell made it for but I'm guessing it was a dealer diplay item or a trade show demo or something.

I checked Dennis Roberts new book on Mitchell Reels. He shows a 306 2nd version with the yellow sticker. The arl is round. Page 112 if you have the book. circ 1961. Good luck in your collecting...
