REPORT JUST IN!

It wasn't an Earthquake after all. One of the shelves in Brian's reel cabinet gave way and the whole island moved 2 1/2 inches.

Here's hoping that everything is Ok with the Funai family. Please let us know.

Maybe we can send in the phantom reel professor, Craig Barber to check up on Brian. Craig seems to be able traverse the country undetected, and may be the man to sneak onto the island and get us a status report!
OK Brian, as soon as you power up your PC, let us all know things are OK with you. Reels we can replace, you on the other hand...so stay safe!

Any bargains on Hawaii vacations yet?

Yep, I'm a mercenary, if it scares off some tourists, and gets me cheap rates, let the ground shake.

Brian, hope you are ok with no property damage.

With the epicenter on the island of Hawaii and Brian on Oahu and no tsunamis I'm counting on Brian, family, and house being in good shape. I would like some reassurance however. It's 3:00AM in Honolulu now. Hope the quake didn't wake you Brian! When you drag out of the sack drop us a note. Aloha!

I tried calling him last night, but lines were jammed. I'll try again after a bit. I'm just hoping those nice glass cases with those nice Pfl reels survived. Good news is that they weren't filled with black suckers NIB and Kent frogs...reels bounce much better.

It is still just 6:00 AM in Honolulu guys. Let poor ole Brian wake up. He probably doesn't even know there has been an earthquake! Bad Bob

I just got off the phone with Brian...he's wondering what all the fuss is about...apparently, they had two dishes fall over in the dishwasher and that's been extent of it, other than power outages for a time. He says he'll check in this evening when everyone is bedded down...good news!

Yawwwwn, did someone say something about an earthquake?

Seriously though, thank you everyone for thinking about me and the family and we got through things just fine. Thank goodness we just finished slapping more plywood on my termite palace or I would've been really worried! Elder asks me about my glass shelved reel cases and it hadn't dawned on me to check. I figured I didn't hear anything crash near there so they must be fine (salt air is probably doing more insidious damage anyway).

No damage as far as I can see around my area and can't imagine what it was like in Kona judging by how much it shook here. One of the most alarming natural events I've experienced next to a hurricane but nothing near like one of those California quakes, Elder! Biggest inconvenience for me was loss of power (and of course the internet!) for 16 hours. On top of that, the office computer has been down due to an office move so I have just enough time to pop in and kick out those spam-bot new user names. Thanks again everyone!

Brian: Glad things are OK with you and your family. News of the quake sounded a lot worse than the event itself. Aloha!

Glad to hear you made it through OK... I have a friend on one of those islands but forget it's name. He's in the middle of guava country if that helps. History was never my strong suit...
