Shakespeare 2200... different colors?!! What box/paperwork?

Post by Wask »

Ok, so I bought a nice Shakespeare 2200 that I was looking for, then a couple of days later, one shows up on the auction site that is black with the part that spool screws onto was painted bronze or gold or whatever.

What gives? Did they just turn out random colors, or was there a pattern to it each year?

What box would these reels have come in? Anyone have an example of the box/ paperwork? Were they marked?

Any good reel books kicking around you could recommend?

I know these aren't really that old, but I appreciate the help.

THANKS!

For what it's worth, the 2200 first appeared in the 1972 catalog and the color is stated to be "Marina Green". The 22xx series of reels were imported.
