Hey guys, I picked up a Penn Delmar reel in the box, it appears unused. THe price on the side says $7.00.
Can anyone give me an idea of the age of this one or value?
It is a big saltwater reel with a pretty colorful label on the box, the reel is black. First Penn reel I have ever owned/ picked up, seems like really high quality.
THANKS!
Matt

Hello Wask;;
I would say the Delmar is a 1940's or 50's reel. It would help to see a picture of the reel and the box to give a value. They were a very popular reel and the value is not high but in today's new Penn market there is a high interest on old Penn reels so if it is realy minty like new in the box and first generation Delmar you could be looking at around $50 to $75 on EBay depending on who is bidding. The best guideline is to go on Ebay and do a search on "Penn Delmar". I think you will come up with a few reels to go by. The fact that your reel is clean and in the box increases the value.
This is your first Penn reel and you have picked an interesting brand to start with. The origins of Penn are always in question and if you get into it, you will have many interesting roads to collect down. as soon as you think you know something solid a new twist comes into the picture. Have fun and welcome to the world of PENN and ORCA.
