When abouts did pflueger switch from red jewels in the endcaps to black ones?

Yo Young Guy-Great question. Can't answer definitively, but it was prior to 1950 as my Akron dating from late 40s has black jewels. Will check further.

The 1941/42 catalog lists Scarlet Red Jewels in the Oil Tension Cups...In the catalogs for the 30s they just listed Genuine Agate Jewls...
