Airex Mastereel model number 1

Post by Airexguy »

It has just come to my attention that there is indeed a model number 1 Mastereel. A fellow in Belgium?, has one. I have a photo, but unfortunately I have not passed computer 101 to know how to put it on the board. Basically is a 1/2 bail Mastereel that does not have a model number on the upper face of the side cover. There are also a number of interesting differences which explains why I have some strange parts in parts inventory. Bottom line is, I would like to have one in MY collection. Its kinda of a sleeper because as I said, it looks a lot like the later B.B Mastereels. If you take a couple of laps around one of these you will see the differences and why I would like to have one. It would be one more piece to a nearly complete puzzle (collection). Please take the time to look over your Airex Mastereels with the 1/2 bail. I do have a nice close-up picture if you would like one emailed to you, Thanks for any help, Bob Halver---->The Airex Guy

Bob: If you haven't answered my email yet, don't send the photos. I have that reel, along with several other early Luxors and American Luxors.

I'll bet most of you guys reading this didn't know this Meisselbach geezer had a Bache Brown Mastereeel collection, with almost all of them in boxes.

Airex Mastereel model number 1

Post by Airexguy »

Thanks to the great guy who posted my picture, and who is responsible for sending me the picture to start with. If some one were to find a model 1 Mastereel and decide to sell it I would like Jean-Paul to have first chance at it as he has done a lot of research on this and also the Luxor brand of reel. I didn't see your posting until now. Somehow I suspected you had a nice collection of Bache Brown/Airex and Luxor because your knowledge of them was too good to not have some hands on. Until these photo's surfaced about the model 1 it was an unknown to many of us including Ben Wright. Do you have the model 1 BB Mastereel in the box? If so, could you send me a picture of it for my history book?

I knew something was up regarding this model because I have a small bi-fold parts and reel break down pamphlet that covers models 1, 2, and 2A. I sure hope a couple of these surface as I know of 3 serious BB/Airex collectors who want to add one to their collections. Bob

Hi Bob,
Thanks for giving me the first chance but that won't be necessary, you go for it, it really should be in your collection first and I'm slowing down on the buying for the moment, the kids have been warning me Santa is on it's way over here
