Can anyone help with this REEL ID "THE OTTER"

Post by jerryreb »

Hello, I'm trying to find out any info on this reel. The only markings are the words "THE OTTER". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Might your reel look something like this but maybe without a level wind and perhaps just a counterbalanced handle? If so, it' probably made by Montague.

Hi,

Otter was a trade name of H.J. Frost Co. of New York, a trade house dating from around 1900-1930. These Otter reels were trade reels made by Montague and Hendryx, among others.

Cheers,

Dr. Todd
