California Free Spool Reel

Post by ron rowe »

I have just received a reel that is a California Free Spool made of solid brass or copper, the only other markings are On and FREE plus on the foot is says 200.
When I received it, it had a bit of lead core on it and it came on a H-I cane rod with double barrel eyelets. There is also some paper work (not original) that said it was bought from Montgomery-Ward Store in Portland Ore. for fishing in the Pacific Ocean & C :?: olumbia River.

Hi Ron,

Not sure what your intention is with the post: are you asking for more info, intend to sell or just want to share your new find? Either way I'm sure people here can help and/or appreciate the joy of finding a new reel.

The reel is a Montague trade reel (at least all the California Free Spool reels that I have seen are.)
