Bad Bob's "Geography Puzzler"

Post by RAM »

Any geography whizzes out there ? Bet you can't get this right without cheating and looking at a map. But then why would you cheat? You lose self esteem and gain nothing for I will tell you the answer anyhow if no one gets it correctly. No prize here, just that self esteem you won't lose by cheating! Here 'tis...

You must walk from Washington, DC to British Columbia, but you can set foot in only seven states and one of those must border the Gulf of Mexico.

Gofer it! Bad Bob

Ah yes, geography...

Hello down there Bob:

My guess is either Texas or North Dakota.

Latin wasn't my only problem subject.

To Jim, who would never, never cheat-Way off, but you had the courage to try! Remember, seven states, and start from Washington D.C. Bad (but not always) Bob

PS-To the Deacon, Geez, Teal, and Steve-where are you? Surely you can try too! This question was on a 1953 Structural Geology quiz at my old alma mater, Vanderbilt. Answer has remained the same despite the passing of so many years. Gave it to my own students on occasion. Don't recall one ever getting it correct. How can we Americans solve the global warming problem if we don't know where Washington, D.C., British Columbia, and everything in between is? Meltdown!

To Steve, Merv,Young Guy et al. I failed to properly state the question. You cannot go through either Mexico (Merv thought of that) or any province of Canada other than BC. But if you did go through Mexico, you would have gone through at least one extra state (Chihuahua). Ya gotta stay in the U.S. of A.! Sorry!

Good afternoon Bob:

You know Robert, sometimes you're not Bad; sometimes you're Sneaky. In my haste to answer your question, I named what I thougt were the GULF states, and not the seven total states. And of course North Dakota is not one of the gulf states...Kansas is!

And even though I live in a state of confusion, there is one advantage which I do have. From my house I can walk to the border with British Columbia without leaving my (current) home state.

So there!

You can get there going through maryland, pennsylvania, new york and 4 provences...ontario, manitoba, saskachawan and alberta but thats only 3 states. Not sure if those are in the right order and I'm sure someone in one of those states plays golf is that close enough :D

Young Guy-Congrats! Those are the correct states! But how did you get from New Mexico to Utah by not walking in either Arizona or Colorado? You should get this part. It is critical to getting the complete answer. Bad Bob

Young Guy wins!

Reelman-You bombed out ! Besides, the commonwealth thing is a cop out. Virginia is a state regardless of what they call themselves. If not, PA, KY, VA, MA (and who knows how many others) would not be part of the United States! Good try old chap! Now try the new quiz. Bad Bob
