Road to Harmony


Daddy told me in my youth,
Two things to ne’er discuss.
‘Cause they make normal people
Start to spit and fight and cuss.

Thing 1 is your religion and
What you believe is true,
‘bout whose God really was it
Who made up primeval stew
From whence came Man in ‘bout a week….
Or a million years… or two.

Thing 2 is even thinner ice.
Whatever side you pick,
You best agree to disagree
‘bout issues Politic.
Unless you’re preaching to the choir….
Or armed with heavy stick.

But as with most good sound advice,
‘Tis easier said than done.
Strong passion mixed with unseen genes,
Demands an outcome won.
Which generates false rhetoric
And conflicts by the ton.

There surely ought to be a way
For everyone to see,
Both sides of every story
And eventually agree,
That only one side could be true….
The one espoused by me!
