Entire collection of late Ed Pearlman for sale

Post by REMiller »

We have come into possession of the collection of the late Ed Pearlman of California. I believe there are 700 reels, 800+ rods of varying condition. Some reel names we can find are Van Hofe, many Shakespeare’s, Pflueger’s (100 or more), Miesselbach, Bronson, Penn and we know some are early 1900’s.

Frame lures include a 1908 Pepper Roamer, a Creek Chub Bait, and a Heddon Midget River Run and several others. Poles include Godwin Granger Victory, Bristol, Heddon, Montague, Silstar, True Pipper, Blue Waters, there may be as many as 1000 rods, 100’s of lures and more.

Please email if interested

I sent you a email at the address listed but got no response. Please email me with what type of Penn reels you have for sale. A list of what's available would be great, prices whould be even greater. Thanks

I got thru to them early on...they indicated lots of tackle (no specific list) and $25K to buy it all out. Whether they have sold, re-thought this or parted it or decided on another venue is unknown to me. It's back east, not out here in CA.

Thanks John

Time will tell, if they contact me, I will see what's what. If not, so be it.

I am back East, on the other hand, I am not back East. You are out West.

Several weeks ago I was sent photos and a brief list of this stuff. Personally, I thought it looked mostly like junk.

That's interesting. Mostly like junk with a $25 K price tag and incomplete list.
Sounds like a easy decision.

Although probably too late, it might have been a good idea for Freeman Auctions to get one or more tables at the ORCA National, to try and sell off the cream.

Pearlman collection

Post by hurdpete »

I asked for a list as soon as the notice was posted and got it today. I got what I asked for - a list. 30 pages handwritten (pdf file), reels listed as they were pulled out of the boxes(no grouping), no condition descriptions for the most part, VERY telegraphic descriptions at best, and no pix ( I presume because they haven't had time to do 700+ individual photo sets). This is a preliminary list - reels are numbered, but that's all. Lots of so-so, some interesting and some very interesting stuff listed, but really hard to tell much with what I received. Rod list is also just a list, with only about 50 rods listed. The pictures attached are all of the collection room and various showcases - only about 4 reels detailed. Hope the info gets better... If you are looking for your copy, be warned that it's an 8+ MEG file, and may take more than one email to download.

I received a reply from Freeman Auctions that the collection would be pieced out in auction at a later date.
I suspect they will be working on the inventory for awhile.

From the list I got, there has already been a lot of work on the inventory...almost every reel worth more than snot had initials in the right margin...my guess is that it has been thoroughly cherry picked, although I have not received confirmation or denial from them as yet.
