We need controversy!

Post by RAM »

OK-No one out there seems to be awake. Time for something controversial. Poll time!

Which of the following are you willing to do NOW to save the world from global warming? (Don't wait until it is too late!) Any ORCA patriots out there?

1) Junk your present auto or pickup and buy a hybrid (Al has, but its a big a--ed $100,000 Lexus SUV)
2) Pay 20% extra on your electric bill for "green energy" offsets (e.g. from windmills. Al does. One way he spends his 200 million)
3) Restrict your unnecessary travel (e.g. fishing trips, trips to sporting events, church, garage sales, convenience market to buy beer. Al does not do this. Uses jets-not necessarily to buy beer, however)
4) Not be concerned if a 200 foot tall power generating windmill is to be erected on the hill across from your picture window (try to do that in Belle Meade. One of Al's 3 mansions is located there. Wealthiest neighborhood in Tennessee. No worry for Al)
5) Support a nuclear power plant in your neighborhood (In Belle Meade?)
6) Support a "carbon tax" on your SUV or excess purchase of gasoline on any vehicle, excess to be determined by Big Brother (whomever that may be).
7) A tax credit for putting a solar panel on your house, the loss of tax base to be paid by those not choosing to install one. (Al has, but it required a zoning variance from the Belle Meade powers-that-be. Clout!)
8) Junk your gas guzzlin' bassboat and buy a canoe
9) Car pool with a van full of liberals on uppers
Bad (basking in the joy of summer in Tennessee) Bob

Equal Time Controversy

By
The Deke

There once was an Ole Boy named Bob,
Whose self-appointed Job
Was to pound on poor Al,
His Tennessee Pal,
And incite all the Tories to Mob.

Well, Al’s great crime you see?
Not a Republican, he!
And his Daddy was rich….
And his pants need a stitch….
To make room in two places or three.

And somehow that makes him worth hatin’,
A fire-breathing Great Satan.
Whose sin was to say
We cannot delay
In saving the planet from meltin’.

Bob’s patriotism never doubt,
His over-top rhetoric spout,
Is just a façade
To get some poor clod
Like the Deke to stick his neck out.

But let’s take time to reflect,
And point out real things to correct.
Like asinine wars,
And Megabox Stores,
Cut slack for our President-Elect.

Amazing! Only one lonely soul could I rile. That was a truly cool bit of verse Deke. Figured I could at least stir up Phil with his coal-powered jet bass boat, but, alas!
Confucious says "He who believes what BB posts is crazy as BB".
So here, Deke, is my response:

Ole Bob a Republican he's not
But what other choice has he got?
A rich-hating Democrat slate
Or hot Al ( who's way overweight)
So Deke-Why not give it shot?

You'll get my vote! The Bad One

We need controversy?

Greetings to you Bob. While you're basking in the joy of summer in Tennessee, I'm doing likewise here in Washington...it's raining! And we love it. And please know that you have riled at least two souls, if not more. Perhaps more to the point, you have incited (some of us) to riot.

Some time ago I made a promise (to myself) to refrain from any politically motivated comments here in our ORCA board, as the last thing that I wish is to upset any of the fine folks in our ORCA family. So may I just say that when the time comes to select new leadership for our beloved country, hopefully each of us will cast our vote from the depths of our soul.

And John, woodworking isn't your only outstanding quality.

Jim
