Need info on Eckmier (Canadian) fly reel

Post by Richard Lodge »

I recently picked up an Eckmier skeleton-style fly reel that says it was made in Canada. I've seen 3-4 of these crop up on eBay in the past couple years. Anyone out there have any info on the company or dates when it was (is?) operating? This is a basic nickel-plated single action reel with kind of a funky metal knob. No great shakes, but I would like to learn more about the company. If anyone has a catalogue that might show Eckmier reels I'd love to see a copy of the listing. Thanks!

Help!

Sorry to bump this back to the top, but I'm baffled at how little I've been able to find out about the Eckmier skeleton-style fly reel (marked "Made in Canada" on the back). John Wozney and half a dozen other Canadian collectors have been very kind and offered to ask around among collectors up north, but no one, to date, has been able to pin down the manufacturer, years it was made or anything about it. Thanks for any info you can provide!
