Title: Developing World is Addicted to Coal
Quotes:
"Leading the coal spree is China, which has more than DOUBLED its carbon dioxide emissions from coal since 2000 to more than 2.7 BILLION tons a year..."
"...a recent analysis by climate experts at MIT found that even if the U.S. and Europe could stop ALL their carbon emissions, the developing countries are on pace to create a climate crisis on their own."
Notes: China has the world's greatest coal reserves.
That 2.5 billion tons of carbon does not include auto emissions. 1.2 billion chinese want a car.
By next year China will overtake the U.S. as the leading emitter of carbon.
Al says "If we lead China will follow our lead."
Well, why not? They have always done everything else we suggested haven't they?

And this has what to do with "Reel Talk"? Has politricks invaded ORCA?
Don't forget 2 things: Per capita, the average American still emits something like 20 times the carbon compared to the Chinese AND it sure looks like they're determined to follow what "we suggested" about conspicuous consumption, shameful waste, lust for burning fossil fuels & destiny to claw their way to the top. If China wants to sell cars & other products here they will have to meet "everything...we suggest" in US standards. With our enormous trade deficit & the collossal amount Bush has borrowed from China, the future is looking more & more like America doing what China suggests.RAM wrote: They have always done everything else we suggested haven't they?
