Vanderbilt 72, UT 69. Few things as joyful as knowing a million orangenecks are simultaneously miserable. But hey! UT was number one for almost 48 hours! Got to hand it to them, they are a super team, and I haven't heard of any of them being arrested either.
As to their football team, on 1/11/08 two freshmen receivers were issued misdeameanor citations for marijuana possession. On 1/21 a freshman running back was arrested and charged with public intoxication . On 1/26 an offensive lineman was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. On 2/2 a defensive back was arrested and charged with DUI. On 2/13 a linebacker and a defensive back were dismissed from the team for unspecified reasons (This type charge is typically REALLY serious in that they were kicked off the team. Wonder what they did? Fulmer usually reinstates such before the Georgia or Aalabama game).
But to top it off, On Sunday a week ago super punter (from a long family line of UT stars and benefactors) Britton Colquitt was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. Coach Fulmer suspended him for the first five games of 2008 and took away his scholarship. Tough way to learn a lesson. Back in 2004 he was suspended after his fourth alcohol-related incident in a six month span. That boy just doesn't take to learnin' too well!
But let's be forgiving. If you can't win the SEC cahmpionship you need to be good at something!
Bad Bob (but not THAT bad)
Joy in West Nashville!

I never dare bet on the Commodores. No need to jinx them. They need all the help they can get usually. Thanks for the congrats and I wish I could take some sort of credit. My paltry annual alum contribution never filters past the "paying the postage and handling" costs for the stuff they send me all year most likely! BB
PS-Down here we have Mississippi State, Middle TN State, Memphis State, Murray State, and probably other MSUs. Little known is the presence here in Sewanee TN of an outstanding school-The University of the South, Episcopal supported and one of the best small universities in the U.S. Once (late 1800s to early 1900s) had great football teams that played big schools. Might be interesting to Google it. I recall they took a road trip one year and in two weeks beat some of the top teams in the south and southwest. Even after exhausting train rides and little or no rest between games. And virtually no pads either. All survived as I recall. Amazing. Look it up. Ciao!
